Community Tasting Notes 5

October 18, 2017 - Dinner at Formento's with Ross (Chicago, IL): From (a very sensible Bordeaux-shaped) magnum. Definitely the style of Austrian that I still have trouble with -- this is waxy and thick. Good concentration and extract, this isn't bracingly green and herbal, but it is lacking an acidic backbone to hold its shape. Heavy and oily, not my cup of tea.

November 20, 2013 - Deep and complex nose with slightly dried tropical fruits, melon, developped spiciness, white pepper, some avocado, herbal notes , honey, creaminess, earthy minerality. Full body, thick, deep flavours. Lots of weight, density, rounded, but little bit low acidity, long finish with some alcoholic heat as well. 89-91

August 26, 2011 - Rich and full bodied. Pepper, herbs like thyme and rosemary, lavender, honey etc. etc. Minerals as well. Great and very tasteful wine. Already a beauty and many years to go.

August 19, 2011 - Impromptu tasting @ Peter Z. (Belgium): Great complexity in the nose and on the palate: honey, resin, lavender and a spicy touch (pepper, juniper berries). Powerful and strong, but restrained and aristocratic. Loved its soft and unctuous structure. Wonderful wine (18/20).

November 4, 2006 - Pale yellow color. Lovely gruner nose of mineral and white pepper. Rich yellow perfumed white pepper fruit on the palate with perfectly balanced acidity. Really nice, though not inexpensive for GV.
