June 14, 2019 - A 1959 Horizontal Across Champagne, Burgundy and Bordeaux (Le Cinq Restaurant, George Cinq Four Seasons, Paris): Silky mouthfeel. Gorgeous red fruit with great complexity. Good structure left.

If the '64 was in my view the star of the dinner (noted) the '59 was surprisingly the weakest. Like the '64 had a minty element to the nose, but a considerable vegetal presence as well. Truffly soft berry flavours, but no great depth and becoming a tad spirity at its core. Clearly well past its sell by date. -

October 1, 2011 - Decadence in Au Jardin: Great mature Burgundy - beautiful expression of mature Pinot fruit with an elegant sweetness, earth, underwood, bit of spice - held up very nicely.
