November 13, 2021 - More open on the nose on PnP than prior bottle a year ago, but still pretty tight on the palate. Definitely continued to open over the course of a few hours, with the best glass being the last. Hopefully I can keep my hands off of the remaining 2 bottles I have for a few years, as they can use it.

September 25, 2021 - Underwhelming after plop, but grew nicely during the course of the evening.
Elevage not properly integrated in this bottle, but fruit, acidity and tannins are there for the long haul.
Very curious about where this wine will go in the future.

Happily enjoying five more in the cellar and no hurry at all.

August 24, 2021 - Nez chaleureux de fruit noir, cuit, tabac. Rond et puissant, bien goûteux, belle longueur. C’est puissant et chaleureux, savoureux, très long, dans un style big. Très bien dans le style. 93 pts

July 29, 2021 - Dark ruby with a tinge of garnet. Pronounced aromas of smoke, cedar, blackcurrants, with hint of orange peel and white flowers, a hint of vinegary mushroom which is perhaps volatile acid? Bright acid and strong integrated tannins, somewhat reticent fruit that emerges strong at the back, long finish. Full bodied and bright at the same time. Ash and rose notes emerge on the nose with time. Complex and evolving with some unevenness.

July 22, 2021 - Decanted 3 hrs. I was really worried when I pulled the cork, it was very funky smelling. No worries though, as the wine itself seemed fundamentally sound. After the first half glass, we clearly have a burly Aglianico (20% Piedirosso) that is going to coast to its 30th birthday. While the structure was pretty massive, it maintained a sense of elegance and focus. Equal parts blackberry, smoke, volcanic rock / charcoal hold their own off the massive walls of structure, barely, but they do. Give this time, lots of time, but if you have say more than three, give it a go. Otherwise hold.
