March 14, 2016 - Chateau Musar Dinner (Pera, San Francisco): Cloudy, garnet; palate is highly oxidative with sherry notes, nutty; palate is oxidized, very much like sherry. As of right now, this is flawed due to oxidation.

March 13, 2016 - Musar Vertical with B. Broadbent (Pera SF): Serge was just a man, and his wines are not invincible. This one was clearly maderized - a nose like a fino sherry. Light and nutty with clear acetaldehyde.
Light brown and cloudy, this deepened in color a bit to brown with a tinge of garnet. The nose seemed to make a slight resurgence, with a hint of exhausted blackberry.
The next morning it was weirdly darker in color, but still quite oxidized. The acetaldehyde was less overt, but on the other hand there was intense ethyl acetate / acetone / VA.
no score - Flawed. -

April 26, 2015 - Full and sturdy but almost not as flavorful as the lighter 74...could this 46 year old wine be a little too young still? Still has a youthful sweetness, and really it could have used being decanted longer, even though it's been in this glass for an hour (growing all the time!). Cedar and spice box, really quite beautiful and classic, and with plenty of tannin and length to keep going for who knows how many years.

November 30, 2013 - The Twelveth Annual Stonefields Dinner (Guelph, ON): Obviously a very mature, slightly oxidative, and somewhat bretty and volatile wine. Nose of wet leaves, nut shells, dried orange rind, potpourri, ash and tea leaves. This is very developed and feels just a bit past prime albeit still pleasurable. Palate feels very light with little left in the way of fruit. Finish carries on fairly long with notes of leaves and spice.
