Community Tasting Notes 3

October 5, 2013 - Saturday Afternoon at Weygandt (Washington, DC): A year since I've tried this, and it's evolved quite a bit. Still some nice sea shell and green herb notes on the nose, but more melon and guava fruit showing. Tangy acid provides great support for the white peach and lemon curd. The creamy finish is matched with minerals.

May 3, 2013 - Tasting as I write. Singular Sancerre, still primary with grape skin tones evident on the palate. The mineral, sea shell tones are evident on the nose. It is resinous, sappy and that is NOT a knock. It is viscous. Very penetrating nose, mineral and acid cut that stands up very well to black cod with soy sauce, garlic and ginger. Real interest, real length.

October 30, 2012 - Holed Up Vs. Hurricane Sandy; 10/30/2012-10/31/2012: This is a superb, albeit young, Sancerre. Lots of apples on the nose, minerals, sea shells and notes of green onion and mint. On the palate, tart acid meets ripe fruit, and it equals freshness. Minerals, slate and lemon curd flavors abound. This is a strong wine that could use another two years to tame down, but very impressive.
