March 31, 2020 - This is in its prime drinking window, but a few hours in the decanter is absolutely essential to enjoying it at its best. It is not typical of the year and lacks the obvious opulence of other left bank wines from 2003. However, that said, it is an excellent wine. Cherry, plum and cedar dominate with a deep nose. The palate is well balanced and deep, but I do find the finish off kilter and slightly sour.

February 14, 2020 - Aromatique similaire au Montrose 2003 au début, sans la profondeur.
Un joli vin élégant, fumé, tout en finesse. Il fut le préféré des dames!

February 1, 2020 - Good, solid Bdx. I think this is on its plateau now. But I wish there was a bit more to it. Dark, solid, smokey fruit with good oak. But falls just a bit flat. Drinking young now, or hold for 10-15 years.

January 4, 2020 - This was terrific and benefited from a 2 hour decant. Terrific balance between the fruit and tannins. It can hold for longer but why wait? Drank from the magnum at NY eve.

(lt Branaire-Ducru) Grab Bag Dear Friends, I suppose this could have been a second Friday Special (it seems we've had two lately) or a "free for all" special but let's call it a grab bag of interesting wine, most at prices that are eye-opening indeed. All are directly from the source with perfect provenance. Have a good weekend everyone - new TN's out next week and an update on the website chat room (we're getting close). - Jon Rimmerman 2006 Anselmet "Muller Thurgau" (bianco) This is an insane price - usually line-priced with the Chardonnay. 2004/2006 Anselmet "Petit Rouge" STRICT LIMIT 3/person Think the Le Prisonnier is interesting? (Chateau Branaire-Ducru St Julien) Not very expressive, but with sweet, blackcurranty fruit on the nose. Attractive palate. Restrained, elegant, with appealing texture. The acidity is a little low, and there is quite a show of tannins. Again this should show some improvement in the cellar.
