August 7, 2021 - having had the '01 at ten years sets my basis of appreciation. I had hope this vintage would be nearly the same. Different years different wine. This one is just too large in every category, and while somewhat fairly balanced it's still to rough around the edges and isn't much fun to drink, being harsh as an ending thought. Possibly time can make this a bit more restrained but the ingredients make me doubt that.

April 23, 2021 - fully developed, once opened still needed a bit of air, wonderful then though. Silky, vanilla, full bodied, blackberry, tobacco, liquorice. @finewine.explorer

April 5, 2021 - Sometimes I think I do not like high alcohol wines, but when I drink wines like this, I realize I do not like wines out of balance and when alcohol sticks out, when there is not enough fruit intensity to carry the alcohol through. Love this one with lifted dark black fruits and blueberries as well as licorice and balsamic, complimented by earthy flavors. mouth reflective of the nose, very high intensity, soft but high intensity tannins supporting the Very high acidity, which is the backbone of this punchy muscle house. Still a long way to go, think this one would be even more interesting in 3-5 years

April 2, 2021 - This bottle was really exceptional. Full body, with dark fruits, bold but very balanced. Super smooth with soft tannin on the finish. Really nice drinker with food like a red pasta sauce or grilled steak. Friends enjoyed very much. Best bottle from my cellar to date.
