Community Tasting Notes 4

April 13, 2014 - Very interesting stuff. We chilled it for about 20 minutes before serving. On the nose it's got beeswax, floral perfume, and limes. The palate was somewhat confusing because the attack is quite nice, with fresh acidity and lively flavors. The finish though is odd, with a strange bitter, salty kind of sensation when you swallow. I liked every part of the wine but that.

December 8, 2013 - Not as negative on it as other reviewers - but it's definitely a unique taste. It lives up to its sour name... Seems like it could work in certain food pairings (summer salads, cold shellfish). Very unusual - but not necessarily bad.

August 24, 2013 - Lip stinger, huh? I don't know why picpoul (aka lip stinger) is primarily used as a blending grape. But, if this one is any indication, it may be because it's pretty tough to take by itself. It's got nice acidity, but the taste is foul - like an off-tasting, artificially-flavored green apple blended with wax and an aspartame chemical aftertaste or something. We tried it over several days with various recommended foods and ended up pouring it down the drain. One of the worst tastes in wine I've ever had.

July 11, 2013 - We didn't care for this at all & ended up pouring it out. Very odd waxy green off-notes. Reminded me of some cheap white wines from SW France, but not French Picpoul.
