January 3, 2021 - Still quite a bright ruby color, with maybe just a hint of brick at the rim. A fabulous and intriguing nose that is difficult to separate out into clear constituents. There is definitely a blast of smoke and grilled meat, perhaps like you might get upon lifting the lid of a smoker full of ribs. But it's also quite herbal and spicy, like clove and anise and oregano. To go along with that, there is some new leather, and the smell of gun smoke. Very little in the way of fruit aromas—maybe just a hint of cherry. On the palate, it's completely outstanding. Mature, and with such depth, knitting together into a savory and mysterious profile that is exceedingly difficult to unravel. It has a distinct mushroomy, meaty, umami character that makes it hearty and satisfying, even though it's medium-bodied at most. The smokiness comes through, as do the herbal notes, but it's really all about this mature, refined savoriness. Still enough freshness and acidity to give it life, too. Smashing.

February 9, 2018 - Very delicate, floral, and tart red fruit on nose, although also has a warmth to it. High acid but in balance.

February 9, 2018 - Delicious and soft, light lithe, with some black pepper spice. Darn tasty.

September 19, 2017 - 3rd Tuesday of Month Blind Tasting Group - Pinot Noir from around the World; 9/19/2017-9/20/2017 (Village): Group rank 6 out of 12. Mine 3 out of 12.
rich berry and cherry nose. rounder. fleshier. finish has more funk. mushrooms. noise doesn't match palate. couldn't decide if this was new or old world. but I liked the balance of funk and fruit.
