Community Tasting Notes 4

October 18, 2006 - Dark ruby in appearance with slight bricking at the edges. Very ripe and almost jammy as would be expected for the vintage. Big cherry and cassis with cedar notes with sufficient acidity to keep it interesting and lively. As it continued to open the ripe fruit remained dominant which suggests it may benefit from futher cellaring.

January 23, 2006 - Decanted one hour before tasting. Almost opaquely dark, with blackberry and raspberry aromas. Medium to full body, with rich dark fruit, soft tannin and a 25 second finish. A bit more acidity would have made this truly impressive, but still very nice. Glad to have more.

January 14, 2006 - TASTING: Montepulciano versus Montalcino (Apeldoorn): A bit disappointing.
not bad, but clearly the lesser of the caparzo. Again peperoni on a nobile's nose. don't like that.
bit too tannic with too little fruit to back up.

February 2, 2005 - Tried over three days. The nose and fruit are somewhat muted with a medicinal aftertaste. I am unsure if this was a bad bottle or just in a dormant stage.
