November 6, 2021 - Nice, not over the top Zin. High alcohol, but does not taste hot.

August 30, 2016 - Fruit jam. Great Zinfandel.

January 13, 2016 - To PNIELSEN: Welcome to the world of Gamba! I discovered them in 2013 during a trip to the Russian River Valley. They are one of the finest, and most under-the-radar, Zinfandel producers.

I had a few bottles of this from 2013-2015 and it was fantastic. This, my last, bottle was still good but has lost some of its' youthful fruitiness and zip. Still, it's lush, smooth, slightly sweet and so easy to drink. Good on PnP, but 30 minutes of air helps.

My experience is that the Gamba Zins drink better in their youth, around the one to three year mark. At this age they retain what makes them so inviting, their big fruit and bombastic nature. Not for everyone I suppose, but a must-buy for those who like the style.

October 4, 2015 - After hearing some positive things about this producer on a wine forum, I spotted this on the shelf at Vintij Wine Bar and Bistro in Sandestin, FL and decided to take a gamble. It's a very ripe, smooth zin, but light on its feet and not porty. The fruit has an almost confectionary sweetness to it without being cloying (if that makes any sense). The nose on the wine is flat-out gorgeous. Not the best QPR at $45 per bottle, but it was an unexpected treat on a special occasion.

September 30, 2015 - Wow, this is good juice. I was very surprised by this.
