July 27, 2019 - A little difficult to judge as it was cooked in 40+ degree heat in the car but still came across well which suggests would have been very good otherwise. Good depth and richness and classic Chianti profile if a little stewed but that was to be expected.

April 16, 2019 - Great stuff. Still has rather strong tannins and acidity. However great red fruits with a bit of bitterness. Really holds the palate. Lots of depth here and purity of fruit. Drink or hold.

January 13, 2019 - Decanted 1 hour. On opening tight with tannin and not especially expressive. Decant helped open and definitely softened the tannic edge. Dark/crimson red, light umber tint to edge, not dense in glass. Cherry/black cherry/sour cherry, some purple fruit/plum, light wood/earth, a hint of tobacco, nose and palate. Moderately full body, nice length, some subtlety to it for sure as it balanced many evident aspects of fruit/tannin/acid/alcohol in ways that kept me enjoying it and thinking about it from start to finish. Served with homemade pizzas, traditional red sauce/cheese and basil/goat/mozzarella & Romano cheeses. Great match.

January 13, 2019 - I've not traditionally been a Sangiovese fan, but given upcoming vacation plans I thought this might be worth a go. Well, no surprises here. Prune, leather, prosciutto. Pretty typical. Not my cup of tea but seems to be representative of what it ought to be and competently made.

(Fontodi Chianti Classico) Dark ruby color; aromatic, black cherry, black raspberry puree, tart blackberry nose; tasty, tight, tart black cherry, tart black raspberry, tart blackberry palate with great freshness and near medium acidity and fine tannins; remarkably good for a challenging vintage; needs 3 years; medium-plus finish (100% Sangiovese)
