Community Tasting Notes 16

December 28, 2023 - Deep Gold, clings to the glass. Quite sweet immediately. Very low acidity, peaked? Very rich and savoury. Not my favourite cup of tea but works well with the fermented meatsoup

May 9, 2023 - Jeremy's Riesling Dinner (Hawthorn): Sleek and quite pretty nose, with pineapple, honeycomb and cream, then something earthier (and less attractive), reminiscent of vegetable soup. Slightly 'Auslese lite', with some apple juice character, although there was some nice acidity on the finish. I liked this wine but, as with the Donnhoff, it slightly lacked energy and I didn't get around to finishing the glass.

January 17, 2021 - Boy this wine has certainly aged well. Honey, pear, peach, and orange peel on the nose. Really beautiful “structure” to the nose.

Palate starts with tangy orange peel, then oranges, then salt, and finally some molasses. Comes in layers.

I used to grade this 90 when I first bought these 10 years back. Now I am upgrading to 92. Lovely wine.

Makes you feel like watching a hummingbird over an orange orchard covered with snow!

December 31, 2017 - Lovely ripe and rich aromas with petroleum and minerals. Sweet and delicate in the mouth. A bit low on acidity. Good with salt lamb meet.

Dregs from the fridge after 3 weeks: Still rich, fruity and delicate. No signs of deterioration. Actually increased the score.

April 4, 2017 - Sunflower yellow; classic hessian note, jasmine fragrance; full, broad, underscored by decent acidity. Expansive ripe finish, long. At peak. Signs of tiring 24 hours on: drink during next 5 years.
