November 30, 2021 - A lovely Amoureuses, which does not possess the magnitude of say Groffier or Roumier, but which is nevertheless delicious. Very balanced, pure and precise, with lovely aromas of rose, strawberry and cherry, hints of earthiness, a bit of spice, wrapped up in silky tanins with a very good and energetic length. Great value. Should age well for 10+ more years.

March 22, 2020 - Lunch at Ichigo Ichie (Ichigo Ichie, Intercontinental Hotel, Robertson Quay): There’s potential here aplenty, but still rather young and tight. I loved the nose on this - it was a kaleidoscope of lovely aromas, from savoury earth and meat, to sweeter notes of dark cherries and berries, then spice and mineral, and just a tiny hint of the floral perfume one would expect from an Amoureuses. The palate was impressive, but rather tight. Here, fine-boned but tightly wound tannins and lovely juicy acidity were wrapped around a bright core of red cherries, with slightly darker berries on the midpalate, and then a trail of spice, earthy mineral, and another little kiss of florals right at the very end. This was very fine - plenty of depth, lots of purity, and a really fine structure and balance - there was a lot to recommend it. However, its best years are clearly far away yet. Even today, it took a a few hours in the bottle before it started showing. Lovely stuff though - I would love to try this again in 5-6 years.

October 10, 2018 - Mysteriously dark yet translucent red of a paint. The nose is amazing: blackberry, ripe cherry, caramel, soft florals, mild spice, minerality, a hint of meat. Take the stem out and add some Vosne spice I’d mistake it for a very very good RSV. On the palate very good clarity and precision with just the most harmonious undertone of stem. 93-94+
