May 4, 2023 - Crimson and now looking quite evolved. Sour cherry and then leather and musty old library on the nose. Medium bodied and showing ever so slightly decaying red fruits whilst exhibiting drying if fine tannins. A little short and lacking amplitude on the finish. Not at the same level as preceding bottles although fortunately last of a case.

March 6, 2022 - A nice wine, but the heat of the vintage really shows on the finish.

May 30, 2021 - A dark and brooding nose greets you right soon as the cork is popped. I decanted for 3 hours, maybe needed more because it was still reticent when I took my first sip. As dinner went on this true to form Bricco Pernice displayed the storied "iron fist in a velvet glove" that this vineyard is renowned for. Flint and crushed stone dominates, but also stewed cherries and mint. Good acidity, tannins more gripping than coating, but I'm nit picking because this was an impressive wine. Drinking well, but definitely years left time for evolution. Much better than the first bottle I drank a year ago.

March 24, 2021 - Elvio Cogno with Valter Fissore and Nadia Cogno (Zoom!): Valter chose to show the 2009 tonight because it was a warm vintage, like 2017, and it's been a while since he tasted it. He thinks 2009 is even more full-bodied than both 2015 and 2017.

It's still quite dark in appearance. Very balsamic. Some tertiary meaty/truffley notes coming through, but it doesn't feel fully mature and tannin is still present. Lovely depth to this, and it's soft and enjoyable, although I'm unsure whether the wine will ever grow into its tannins.

December 25, 2020 - Easily my least favorite bottle of this so far - really shows the vintage; particularly ripe on the nose. The palate was better, but the VA and ripeness were just too much to overcome.
