October 15, 2022 - Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2022 Edition; 10/14/2022-10/16/2022 (Piedmont, Italy): From a beautiful magnum straight from the immaculate wine cellar of La Ciau del Tornavento.
A masterclass of a wine especially from a year like 1995 . We expected little and we got a lot and the commendation of Nadia the owner of Ciau “ Grande Domenico ti salutiamo” says it all. Impressively fresh, impressively elegant and full of class. Good fruit akin to the 2004 Sarmassa ( Papies 97) but with a lot more of course evolution. It’s as if time stood still here . A magnificent wine and a memory to cherish.97-981 person found this helpful Comment -

August 1, 2020 - This bottle was a wonderful wine to enjoy on a pleasant evening on the patio. I would not rate it quite as high as the previous bottle I had a month earlier from the same seller. Have to believe the storage was equivalent, so maybe just a little bottle to bottle variation after 25 years.

July 5, 2020 - Just a magnificent Barolo. Fruit was still dominant and compelling. Twists and turns in the nose and on the palate were exciting. Based on the large range of scores given to the wine, it looks like quality of storage is key to how it is viewed. This bottle was evidently stored very well by the original owner, as I just purchased it recently.

July 28, 2018 - Quite an amber tint but not over the hill with mature complexity of drying fruit, minerals, tar and forest floor leading to adequate firmness on the finish. Very good.

May 23, 2017 - Mature, and drinking quite well. The oak is still evident, but much better integrated than in the past. Nice tertiary flavors of leather and smoke, rose, rust, some olive and sage. A good weekday Nebbiolo.
