Still at it early stages and in fact we should have decanted albeit the wise thing is to cellar another few years. Very classic and at times even a touch rustic. Good ripe fruit, dried cherries, soft tar, good palate presence and nose but one feels it a bit buttoned down still. Solid 92 but with more to give with age.

Opened and served . The 2013 vintage delivers with its welcoming ripe feel . Quite classic but also very spicy this one ( spice was not present in the ever classic Pora 2013 , Papies 91). Dark , lush fruit, still very little secondary feel and as always greatest value. Finally well in its drinking window and food easily for another 10. 91

Opened and left to rest. Decanting not a bad idea.
Very classic and had none of the spice present in the 2013 Montefico ( Papies 91) , cherries , soft tar , classic from start to finish. Well in its drinking window and with an easy 10 more years of beauty. 91

A modern expression of the area but exceptional and Michelin star worthy . It will get one for sure. Interesting mix of fish and truffle!

Quite firm, mineral and sharp. A bit too sharp . Total focus , full on aperitif and at times difficult . Linear and almost one dimensional. 90

A great find of a brewery and impressive how the Italians are pushing the Spanish for the crown of this revolution.
Proper rich, very hoppy, lots of depth and impressively good IPA. Quite a bit of weight here so for the lovers of rich beers.

Very solid much like their IPA , just this is softer more welcoming and easygoing, impressive still and not lacking any depth of flavour. Very good result from this superb brewery and what a find.

2 very consistent beautiful bottles of what we are told is the last vintage under the label.
More Classic , a lot less modern than the old vintages , tar, cherry, soft use of oak here and this is exactly the right balance of modernity and classicism in one bottle of a wine. Easy 93 and drinks very well now but with lots of future. 93

Polished , round and silky . Almost bordeaux-esque in many ways and a very off the classic track amarone. The ripeness are the end gives it a bit away but blind would be v diff to place as such. Very good though, nice earthy feel , well evolved and probably at peak now. Easy 92

Rich yet with a full on firm core of bright acidity and a touch of a bitter edge that holds it all together. Nice fresh feel now, energetic and with lots of character . Very solid 91

Just released and frankly simply excellent. Proper weight in the palate, rich. But not heavy, nice toasty edge in a way, round and impressively polished and elegant. No need to say more ,stunning bottle and an easy 95-96.

A touch tired and a far cry from the wine we have tried a couple of years ago was was a stunning 95. Especially compared to the 2004 ( Papies 95-96)P2 this felt a bit flat and lacking but we are not sure if it’s a bottle issue or the wine in general. We will refrain from rating but if this was the real thing it is no more than a 91

Served blind and we saw a uite a bit of age here, earthy and soft feel to the point we judged it to be late 90s than a 2004. Classic in many respects, soft, cherry, herbs, earthy fella cross . Very good 93 but probably one to drink sooner than later especially in bottle.

Served blind and a table of demanding palates went wow! Frankly that’s as good as a tasting note we can this of for this excellent wine and definitely has improved since 2017 when we tried it last ( Papies 95 from the same cellar). We actually guessed it as 2004 from a good modernist like Voerzio and indeed fits the textbook very well. Exceptional nose, open and sings from start to finish, good weight of ripe fruit on the palate, harmonious and simply excellent. Was eclipsed only by the 1999 Sarmassa ( Papies 98) . Exceptional wine with a lot of life ahead.

Served blind and the nose divided the crowd between being Burgundian or being a touch off putting. We loved and indeed had we not known all wines we’re Barolo we would have thought it was a Burgundy . The nose however is the highlight of the wine and the palate doesn’t not follow at the same level. Still very solid and a worthy 94 even judged in a lineup of magnificent wines. Drink sooner than later.

Was served blind and indeed wend for late 90s , earthy and soft, mild and elegant wine and akin to an 85 Bordeaux less of a loud wine and more of an elegant ballerina. Unfortunately we felt this was also coming to the end of its years at the top of its quality and we would suggest one drinks these sooner than later. 95

Decanted and served and frankly did not strike a cord with the group as this softer and lighter wine was eclipsed by the other bigger wines. We do question Scavino Barolo ageing capacity too , especially from the 90s. Soft, a tough lacking in energy, soft secondary and a bit rustic. 92 and drink sooner than later.

A masterclass of a wine especially from a year like 1995 . We expected little and we got a lot and the commendation of Nadia the owner of Ciau “ Grande Domenico ti salutiamo” says it all. Impressively fresh, impressively elegant and full of class. Good fruit akin to the 2004 Sarmassa ( Papies 97) but with a lot more of course evolution. It’s as if time stood still here . A magnificent wine and a memory to cherish.97-98

This followed in the wake of a pretty solid line up of maybe 96-97 wines including its little brother from 2004 ( Papies 97) was was the bomb. Immaculate wine, less rich than the 2004. But more expressive, well matured but alive, soft rich feel and exemplifies the correct modernity of Voerzio in this excellent vineyard. WOTD and a magnificent 98

Funny story here is that the bottles delivered to Ciau by Voerzio were with 1998 vintage as the 1999 labels were not ready and the vintage 99 is written by hand in blue biro by the man himself.

There very few wines we could close this legendary lunch and indeed this delivered as expected. Liquid gold as always but this also higher than ever before. Dried figs, apricot, soft honey but frankly this was Yquem , well matured and effectively still very young ( the fresh youthfulness is gone if course) and with a lot of years ahead.97,98,99,100 . Take a pick

Opened and served. The wine ticks a lot of boxes of good Barolo, good ripe too, cherry feel, less tar, starting to show secondary touches. Good brightness too and time should help albeit not sure how much better this gets vs today. For sure a good 91-92

Opened and served. Well mannered and well behaved in a way, soft but with ripe core of fruit, touch rustic at times we could say but also with enough fruit to hold it in check. Cherries and plums, no tar feel, still far from being secondary but with good evolution. Maybe they tried too much with the extraction we felt. 90-91

Young but well mannered, proper super Tuscan feel here, good ripeness , good use of oak and very much a big wine without being heavy. Well made and silky and we felt that albeit very solid it was still on the young side and a touch one dimensional given the fruit was still at the forefront and needs time. We like this wine a lot in general and just this needs more time. 91 for now but with lots of promise

Young and with lots of puppy fat especially on the oak front which give it a sweet, smoky feel. And effectively dominates the wine at this stage. That being said the wine works and is very much a welcoming wine and crowd pleasing. Just most of it is young ripe fruit and oak at this stage. 89-90
