August 12, 2022 - Coonawarra Roadshow (Town Hall, Sydney): Fruit smells slightly dried out, baking spice, slight fresh blackcurrant underpin. Juicy with medium plus intensity acidity, tight chalky tannins fruit plays second fiddle. Medium length. Hmm

    January 24, 2020 - Aged for 22 months in French (60%) and American (40%) oak barriques. 13,5% alcohol, 0,8 g/l residual sugar, 6,9 g/l acidity, pH 3,41. Tasted blind.

Dark yet moderately translucent blackish-red color with a luminous raspberry-red rim. Very juicy and intense nose with aromas of ripe dark fruits, sweet blackcurrants, some cooling herbal notes of minty greenness, light developed notes of wizened black cherries, a hint of savory wood spice and a touch of peppermint toothpaste. The wine is dense, ripe and moderately full-bodied with quite chewy overall feel and still very youthful flavors of ripe blackcurrants, some minty herbal tones, a little bit of sweet dark plums, light toasty oak tones, a hint of juicy forest fruits and a touch of robust, savory spice. Texturally the wine is silky smooth, yet still very structured; the remarkably high acidity lends great freshness and intensity to the wine, while the assertive and still rather grippy tannins bring wonderful firmness to the mouthfeel. The dry finish is serious and intense with quite noticeable tannic grip along with savory flavors of juicy forest fruits, some gamey meat, a little bit of dark plummy fruit, light toasty oak tones, a cooling hint of peppermint and a touch of gravelly minerality.

A wonderfully structural and stylistically dead-serious Cabernet Sauvignon showing attractive purity of fruit and bright acid-driven core. A far cry from the soft, all too ripe and lavishly oaked modern Cabernets that dominate the new world wines at this price point. This is admirably old-school in style with very judicious use of oak and impressive tannic backbone that keeps the overall feel firm and sinewy. Although clocking at 8 years of age already, the wine shows remarkably little sense of development at this point. Based on how youthful the wine is at the moment, I find it hard to believe this wine would be peaking in the following 10 years. Impressive stuff and solid value at ~30€. Highly recommended.

February 19, 2016 - Wonderful classic cabernet with smooth, almost chalky dark and blue fruit and a great mouth feel. Tannins are well integrated at this stage and I expect them to round out and become softer. The only potential improvement would be a slightly more pure and linear finish on the palate. Definitely worth adding a couple bottles to the cellar.
