Community Tasting Notes 3

October 15, 2022 - Initial floral alpine flowers are joined by Asian pear, yellow apple and kumquat before morphing to nutmeg and cashew - very different!
Light to mid bodied, the acidity is strident and piercing like a Muscadet supporting juicy Forelle pear and yellow apple before rising to a Yuzu-edged citric mineral bite to the finish. Medium length the wine is steely, delicate, ethereal, high altitude fare with little depth nor concentration but more to challenge your acid retaining abilities. Featherweight almost.

January 15, 2018 - Terroir-istes International - France, Regional (Cape Town Law offices): (Tasted Blind): A mid-yellow colour. Touch reduced at first but opens to more perfume later and is joined by aromas of baked yellow apple, quince, dried hay, bergamot, and a hint of lees-y notes (Chablis-like). The palate starts with an overt malic-based acidity. Fruity with plenty of apple, stone fruits and peach sweets that segue to Cretian pear and light quince. Mid-length, the wine is very tightly wound, but in glass, as the sweeter fruits (touch of RS?) jostled for position, I picked up some earthiness and undergrowth that added some intrigue.

April 2, 2015 - Wierd Grapes 2nd Get Together (Leiden): This is a wierd wine. The nose is all Savoie: rich, sultry, baked peached, caramel. Very inviting. Its a suprise then once you taste and find that its light and refreshing with none of the depth the nose makes you expect. Agreed with Mic when he said it was perfect aperatif wine. Jelle reckoned though that it was a wine for people who enjoyed blind water tastings...
