March 10, 2022 - 13 "Bâtard" flight -- fairly reductive on pouring and decanted for several hours. The reduction blows of steadily but this never truly came into form. Excellent raw materials and not nearly as much pleasure as prior bottles.

March 10, 2022 - Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys La Paulée Auction; 3/10/2022-3/11/2022 (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): In 2013 "Bâtard" horizontal. This was very reductive to start, and while it improved with decanting and time, never really strutted its stuff. An odd bottle. Reduction didn't bother others as much. Great raw material obvious.

July 23, 2019 - Casual Dinner at Nico Osteria (Nico Osteria - Chicago, IL): A profound white burg that got better and better over a ~3 hour dinner. Amazing richness and depth with electric acidity.

July 23, 2019 - Dinner at Nico Osteria (Chicago, IL): This is one of the greatest white Burgundies out there. A really rich nose, with a slight hint of oak but also some creamy citrus and lots of minerality. This just kept getting bigger and more expressive over the course of the evening. It's a massive, concentrated, and expansive wine, with so much complexity and raw power. And as much as I hate to talk about premox and all, this is drinking extraordinarily well right now, so it's hardly a shame to open them.

May 19, 2019 - Initially the 2013 Jacques Carillon Bienvenues Batard Montrachet was not showing as much power and oomph as the 2014 Comte Lafon Meursault Poursots, but as the wine sits in the glass the orchard fruit intensity and delicate white flowers of Bienvenues shone. Latent energy of vibrant orchard fruits, gentle lees and grainy wood spices. Proper Grand Cru weight and intensity with attractive yellow orchard fruits and spring flowers. Jacques’ wines are rounder and more generous than Francois’, especially from this tiny 0.12ha plot of Bienvenues Batard Montrachet. (93/100)
