January 20, 2017 - I read Steven Tanzer's description of this wine as idiosyncratic - he is absolutely spot on. The nose was almost muted to start then opened up to some muskiness, at one point I was contemplating whether the wine was corked, but that cleared to a linear, spice and dark berries. Tasting the wine there is a real hit of tannin and back bone which I loved, beautifully balanced by acidity. It's got a good weight but I never felt like it was ever able to unfurl. Good wine, better in 5 years.
