September 17, 2017 - Tasted blind. Pleasant and balanced. Red cherry, forest floor, and cinnamon. I like the structure with the juicy acidity and the rather firm tannins. Rating: 90
Guess the wine: Pinot noir. Likely Burgundy. ~6 years old. -

June 9, 2017 - Previous notes sold this as Burgundian, and this was somewhat correct. It is indeed a lighter-style Pinot, and it lacks the bombast of some NW Pinot. However, it is dominated by an odd smoky flavor I haven't had in a Pinot before. Other than that, it has traditional cherry and herbs, but the smokiness dominated my attention and honestly unbalanced the wine. My first Chilean Pinot, and hopefully this isn't typical.
