December 24, 2023 - Dusty and very drinkable Brunello. Popped and poured. At its peak now, not sure how much longer it should wait.

November 27, 2022 - Slight earth and mushrooms, deep red cherries. Really nice silky tannins. Slight vanilla on the finish. Overall an excellent wine, showing near its prime if you still like some fruits in your wine. Can laydown for a few years more if you want more tertiary flavor evolution, but would suggest opening these if you still like some fruit presence.

November 15, 2022 - Purple brown hue, soft nose. First Brunello burst is modest, subtle dark fruits - cherries and currants moving to a more complex middle and finish - hints of oak, spice and tobacco. Slight dry cheek pucker, medium finish and medium linger. Good but was expecting more from a reserve from one of the best years in the past 25.

August 26, 2022 - The third wine in our blind tasting was the Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio alle Mura from 2010. After 1-2 hours in the carafe, everyone thought the wine was flat, lacking the acidity and fruit typical of a BdM, especially with 12 years behind it. But after 4 - 5 hours, everything starts to fall into place, the wine comes to life, and what a wine it is! Day 2, the wine is even better, but more of tertiary notes in the form of autumn leaves, tobacco and cigar box. What strikes me is that the wine feels much older than 12 years!? A little disappointed because it's supposed to be a top vintage and top wine from Castello Banfi, hope it is a bottle variety. Drink or hold.

January 30, 2021 - Powerful, broad, coming into balance. Dark ruby with evolution at the rim. Nose is shy at first but later shows earthy minerality, cherries, anise, leather. Medium-full bodied on the palate with high acidity and integrating tannins. Hint of bitterness on the finish, indicating slight overextraction, but overall this is high quality wine with a good 10-15 years left to develop further.
