October 13, 2018 - Deep, light golden color. Aromas of vanilla, citrus and exotic fruits. Supple and fat on the palate, but also tart, with a lovely, seductive acidity. Semi modern for a white Rioja.

June 22, 2018 - Love this - salty, peachy, rounded, oak present but not overpowering, inciting acidity. Superb length and very refreshing (though not complex enough to reach the higher levels).

February 26, 2017 - Peachy colour, marzipan and almond nose. Quite ripe pear and apricot, medium body, stony fruit. A ripe style and a very well made wine but not my cup of tea so hence the score.

December 25, 2016 - Tasted blind. A core of candle wax and custard (not sweet) with lemony brightness and a touch of oak. Pretty simple, but I’m a sucker for white wines that taste like this. They strike me as noble and elegant.

Guess the wine: Really, the viura-based Riojas of traditional winemakers like R. Lopez de Heredia are the only wines I’ve ever tasted like this. I could also imagine a dry semillon tasting like this. As for age, it tastes quite old to me, and my guess is that it’s 10 years old.

    Rating: 91.
