February 12, 2021 - I thought rather light and whimpy

June 11, 2019 - A Brunello this good at under $30 is a steal. Classic Montalcino fruit, with a touch of raisin but not too much. Tannins are firm, but not austere, and it’s a very smooth wine at this point.

October 13, 2018 - This is a gorgeous wine that seems to be underrated by the critics. I love the floral, rose-like aromas, which are coupled with dried figs, dried cherries and strawberries, and licorice. The wine flows with a velvety texture and then bites back grainy tannins. When wines drink this well, I recommend drinking them now, though there is obviously room for a decade of aging.

April 21, 2018 - Medium garnet in color. On the nose, sour cherry, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, pencil shavings, tobacco, and leather. Perhaps a little volatile acidity as well. The wine is dry, with medium-plus alcohol and medium body. Medium-plus tannins are dry and dusty. Medium flavor intensity and medium finish. Good, solid Brunello.

March 20, 2016 - Sweet strawberry dominated flavors accented by toasted wood; showing more acidity on the palate with airation. Some smoke, southern spicy soil, and a hint of oak on the nose. Fruit forward and showing some baby fat; not as mineral at this stage as some other '10 wines. Very approachable now, with no obvious residual tannins, and finishing with what seems just an aftertaste of the wood treatment. Somewhat simple and diffuse now; would hold off just a bit in a hope of gaining some complexity.
