    February 16, 2020 - Serviceable Cabernet for a decent price. (Suckling score - 5 points = reality. 97-5=92)

January 25, 2020 - Score may be a touch on mean side but this is a tricky one. Had a bottle maybe 2 years ago which was filled with promise so thought this may be ideal timing but honestly I think it needs a few more years ideally.
It’s quite big with good tannins and acidity but isn’t rich. First half bottle it really did show some heat / alcoholic almost prune characteristics on the finish.

Kept until next day and had really integrated and softened though still had spice and power on finish.
Slightly grainy / chalky on finish with some grip.
Give it a proper aeriation / decant but this will go the ages and will be better for time in bottle.

January 19, 2020 - Decanted for 2 hours, and this was drinking very well. Big wine, but by the third hour in the decanter, this had settled down nicely.

December 23, 2019 - Drink with friend pre-Xmas gathering. Decanted 1.5hr. Ripe fruits, silky tanning, good length and elegant. It is getting into drinking window now.

November 24, 2019 - Drank my last 375mL bottle over 2 days this weekend.

Day 1: Had with a fillet mignon and a mashed potatoe with mushroom gravy. I opened the bottle an hour before making dinner. On the nose, I was getting some chocolate, ripe red fruits, kisses of wood and spice. The alcohol was still showing itself a bit at 15% in the first couple hours. This paired absolutely perfect with the steak. I did ease up on the pepper and I think that helped. I tasted and smelled this over a period of 4-5 hours on Day 1 and did get better, still showing nice fruit and the alcohol did integrate better. I think I get a bit of that bell pepper that others have mentioned, but to me if it is there then it is minimal.

Day 2: I wanted to see what this had to give on Day 2 since I have (3) more 750mL bottles and I was glad I left a bit. The fruit and alcohol integration was on point and led to my 95 pt score. I got a lot more cocoa and that spice that I was getting on Day 1 balanced out. I was surprised how much sediment there was in a 375mL bottle and the last couple ounces were basically undrinkable, so decant if you can.

This is a good wine from a good vintage and a good winery. This is not as good as the 13' Dominus which I just had a couple weeks ago, but for a 2nd wine and at its price point, it is above average.

In another 5-7 years, this is going to be good and its QPR will increase quite a bit. I love drinking napa wines in the 13-20 year point relative to its vintage year and the Napanook I think is going to be no different so I will be holding and drinking these in another 7-10 years. Will this get a better score with age? It should, but my score is reflective of the wine on Day 2 so we shall see.
