November 19, 2021 - Not sure if on the downhill slide or just bottle variation. It is a pretty, delicate wine with faded red fruit, nice balance, smooth finish and notes of leather and light spice. Could have mistaken for a pinot if tasting blind. Its a good pre-dinner sipper and could complement spicy food. Just not very exciting.

    July 18, 2021 - Gave the 2010 a 96 as it was absolutely dee-lish!
This one not so luscious and surprisingly so given my expectations of a Thomas Rivers Brown wine. Which is not to say it wasn't good, it's just not a pre-dinner sipper which is our preference (thus my, relatively, lower score). This is a food wine if ever there was one. And it WAS great with the pizza.
It's bright, tannic, a tad austere with dark fruit. Give it an hour or three of air. Actually liked it better out of the Syrah glass. It struck me as more of a Syrah/Italian wine style. Very different than the 2010.
If this bottle is indicative of what remains out there, it has years to go and might settle down in the meantime.

October 21, 2020 - Fully mature and probably at its peak if you prefer the fruit to shine. Very smooth with beautiful mostly red fruit. Touch of oak but in the background. Some faint chocolate and cedar notes. Finish is pretty but a little clipped. At peak IMHO. Liked the sophistication a touch netter than a 2012 Daou Soul of A Lion that I drank beside it.

August 24, 2016 - Surprisingly soft and easy drinking for such bottle.

December 21, 2015 - Still very young. Was very good but not impressive on first day despite a long decant. But on day #2, it was turning into a wow wine. Muted and glassy texture on first day. Dark fruit. On second day it blossomed into a more hedonistic, lush wine but with really good balance and good earthy notes of tobacco, mocha, pencil lead. Lots going on and layered. Cassis and black fruits.
