June 29, 2022 - First look at this, and I’m enjoying it. Fresh and minerally SB element, nothing too grassy and not a cat in sight. A touch of florality on the finish hinting at some rounding to come as the 70% semillon develops, before the laser-like cut returns and carries it through a long finish. Certainly drinkable now with pleasure, but there’s more to come. ***1/2

  • Eudemis Likes this wine:

May 6, 2021 - 13% alcohol. Sem 70%, Sauv 30 %. Long reconstituted cork (not Diam). Decanted an hour ahead. Bright pale gold colour with just a hint of a remnant of green.
Lovely nose with floral aromas combining with more mellow lanolin with pleasant results. In the mouth, the Sauvignon is probably still more in evidence than the Sémillon and there is vivifying acidity in the finish (enough to make you sit up!).
Very satisfying now, with space to mellow. Certainly very well made, and good value too.

June 11, 2020 - 13% alcohol. Sem 70%, Sauv 30 %. Long reconstituted cork (not Diam). Decanted an hour ahead following previous negative experience, and what a difference this made! Very pale straw colour.
The nose is aromatic with the boxwood aromas characteristic of Bordeaux Sauvignon. Some pleasant sweaty notes upon swirling. Not complex but very good nevertheless. The mouth is vivacious with vg tension, no fat whatever but good intensity.
I still taste the Sauvignon rather than the Sémillon, and the wine is somewhat angular but pretty good in a taut style. No oak.
This bottle gave a much better account of itself than the last one, and I am now much more upbeat about the potential of the wine (plenty of life ahead). I put this down to the 60mn of exposure to air (unless it is the huge black sole in my plate which altered my mood in a positive way ...).
    Definitely one to decant.

January 21, 2020 - Domaine de Chevalier vertical with Olivier Bernard (Le Cafe Descartes at the French Embassy): Medium expressive nose displaying ripe yellow fruit, kiwi, passionfruit, gooseberry, a hint of jalapeno, lanoline and wet stone. Very good concentration, packed ripe yellow fruit, rich yet cool and clean, a hint of sugar, good acidity and mineral, and a medium to long kiwi and gooseberry driven finish with a hint of sugar at the end. Richest wine of the flight.

January 21, 2020 - Domaine de Chevalier Tasting (French Embassy): Nose shows honey, toasted bread and crème on top of lemons and apples. Plush, waxy texture, fresh acidity, nice balance between oaky, creaminess and crispness, with some spicy, herbal undertones. Mostly Semillon.
