  • Eudemis Does not like this wine:

June 7, 2019 - 13% alcohol. Superfluous plastic film over the capsule. Reconstituted cork (not Diam). The colour is pale and pure. The nose is quite muted initially, much more aromatic by the end of the meal, with white flowers in evidence. The mouth is mean and narrow, with plenty of acidity but not that much else.
I have no idea why I was once enthusiastic about an early vintage of this wine; maybe the initial production was of a higher standing.
Not a repeat purchase even at 10€. Domaine de Chevalier are not doing themselves any favour by being associated with this wine which, in my opinion belongs to supermarket shelves.

April 6, 2019 - Heavy on the semillon at 70%. Light yellow hinting at green. Tight but clean nose of mostly river rock and saline, seashells, maybe a little subtle pear and apple, and light herbs. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, some viscosity, and flavors of pineapple and cream/yogurt, pear, apple, tropical fruits, caramel, and lemon. I'm enjoying it.

March 28, 2019 - Domaine de Chevalier. Bordeaux AC.

£11.00 online in Bond from Lay and Wheeler, UK (who charged ME £10 for delivery ONLY AS FAR as their Majestic shop, not my house, the B**tards! Never again).

Lovely white Bordeaux blend, bargain price for this quality from a great vintage. Drink up, no sense in keeping.

Oily Semillon dominated blend (only 30% Sav Blanc), wood not OTT, some mineral earthies, a creamy middle. Smooth. Good balance of acidity, nice pith of lemon, zest too, some Quince. Finishes near dry. Unctuous, Super Glugger/All Nighter without food. Bit of wet wool, but not more complex than flavours listed here. If I had a quibble it’d be I’d prefer a 50/50 blend. Minor detail, this 2014 is a bargain.

March 3, 2019 - Pre dinner, but with some mushroom pate. Citrus (lime) tropical notes and good depth of flavour. Had a bottle of the same vintage back in 2016 and it hasn’t changed much which is good to know. Lovely.

February 9, 2019 - Clear pale gold; clean medium nose of smoke, orange pith, flint, lemon, pear, cheese and toast; developing; dry; high acid; medium alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavor intensity; pfn but dominated by lemon and pith; good quality; drink now; very unique aroma of cheese
