October 4, 2022 - A wonderful CDP and my last bottle, sadly. Deep garnet color, full bodied CDP with loads of dark fruit, earth, incense, spice velvety tannins, with great finish.

August 7, 2022 - Too much green olives - a bit unbalanced for my taste. Had side by side with ‘98 Pegau, and I think the Pegau was showing better.

July 3, 2019 - Interesting to see how these superripe, special cuvées of the 90s have aged. This had mellowed out, still sweet fruit, some earth showing, but rather drying on finish (overextraction?) and not very complex in the end.

December 2, 2018 - Some more Sunday wines (Chicago, IL): There must have been a time where this was super fleshy and sweet and ripe, but this has now integrated fairly nicely. The fruit is mostly secondary -- it's sweet but not overly so, and there are some lovely herbal and earth notes as well. The finish does come off a touch alcoholic, perhaps due to the riper vintage. Not much funk here.

    November 9, 2016 - Last tasted 3.5 years ago . . . .

Color: light ruby -> diffuse garnet rim. Nose of cherries, mushrooms, earth, leather, a little barnyard and notable CDP spice. Absolutely mature; tannins fully resolved but showing lovely balance and bigger than expected given the relatively light color (still!). I think this bottle is even more robust than the one I had over 3 years ago. Good tertiary development here and demonstrating why one ages Southern Rhones. Last bottle and enjoyed at peak; for those who have more it's time to drink.
