October 20, 2021 - Delicious - early in the drinking window but well integrated and ready to go with a good decant. Silky smooth, rich blue and black fruits with the beginnings of some loamy, earthy, tobacco notes and some subtle herbs. Good finish.

Got plenty of runway with potential to improve further, but I loved this for its balance (especially for a younger CNDP) and the lovely subtlety in some of it flavours.

August 20, 2021 - Not a stunning wine, but excellent in balance and style. Darker fruits, fig and plum combine with light tobacco and earth notes. Drinking quite well after open 30-45 min. From Magnum.

July 24, 2021 - Deep black fruit aroma with green bramble, graphite, licorice and alcohol notes. Also plantains? Rich, spicy dark fruit flavor with notes of black currant, blackberry, blueberry and brambles with a smokey finish. Still vibrant with lots of acid, tannins and alcohol — it’s well balanced, but there is a lot of everything. Not as expressive as other vintages, this is a bit more nuanced and linear.

Hold, this still has plenty of life and will hopefully get more interesting.

    Tasted non blind.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of potpourri, cinnamon, dark chocolate and mixed dark fruits. Flavors of plums, red currants and red berries. Medium to bright acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.

April 10, 2021 - This is a wine for the decadent - I don't mean decadence in your lifestyle but for those that relish the dark finish of something that once had simple organic life but can now splendour in the consummation of that life.

Slight brown bricking in colour; nose of sweet dark soil, lifted and enigmatic; taste = flavours of cassis, mature plum and cinnamon that go on forever, but at the back of the throat speak of desuetude: fin de partie, this is the end of me. What is remarkable about the structure of the wine is how it can retain plenitude (its fullness across the mid palate), whilst still giving off those dark descending tones.

So, 94 points (although not all wine drinkers will concur). The points system is useful, but it has a tendency to homogenise the experience of wine drinking: it is heavy-handed and conceptually unsophisticated and does not have the capacity to respond to the sui generic style of individual wines.

But now I've said this, I can't (at the moment) come up with a better system.
