January 22, 2019 - 1982-1991 Cote-Rotie and Hermitage (Chave, Gentaz, Jaboulet, Jamet, Jasmin, Ogier) (Berkeley): Group's #3; my #3; 3 first; 1 second; 3 third; 0 last. Complex aromas and flavors of cassis, meat, alcohol, and cedar. Medium-bodied, with nice fruit concentration, high acidity, medium tannins, and a long finish.

December 29, 2013 - Cellared since release. This is La Chapelle, 1st bottling, according to the importer from whom I bought the wine, and La Chapelle according to Philippe Jaboulet, to whom I posed the question on three different occasions. La Chapelle is primarily from Le Méal, which gives a big, powerful, not necessarily very precise wine, but still impressive for its force and presence. This is one 1983 Northern Rhône that still has potential upside; most are now declining at at greater or lesser speed.
