90 points
Group's #4; my #7; 1 first; 3 second; 4 third; 2 last. Aromatic nose with hints of red fruits, meat, and alcohol. Flavors of cherries and deep red fruits, with some alcohol showing through. Medium-bodied, with good fruit concentration, good acidity, mild tannins, and a medium finish.
Red
1982 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
94 points
Group's #5; my #1; 2 first; 2 second; 2 third; 1 last. Knockout aromatics! Normally I need to stick my nose in the glass to get a sense of the aromas but not with this wine - beautiful and exuberant aromas of meat, game, and red fruits were wafting right out of the glass and filing up the room. Flavors of cassis, red fruits, minerals, and bacon. Medium-bodied, with good fruit concentration, high acidity, mild tannins, and a long finish.

Red
1991 Michel & Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
91 points
Group's #8; my #4; 2 first; 1 second; 1 third; 12 last. Complex aromas and flavors of dark fruits, cassis, bacon fat, and oak. Tastes smother and more modern than the other wines in the tasting. Medium-bodied, with decent fruit concentration, medium acidity, mild tannins, and a long finish. Strangely, almost everyone at the other table though that this was corked.
