November 10, 2021 - I find Chenin easy to respect and harder to love, but was glad when this was recommended as a pairing for Jerusalem artichoke soup (which was a good idea, as it turned out). Textbook example, quite broad despite its persistent acidity, plenty of apple and, as the wine warmed, the quintessential wet wool as well as more honeyed richness. The sort of wine that's delightful by the glass but might well be hard work to see through an entire bottle...

June 14, 2021 - French White and Rosês (Grapes & Grains, Temecula, CA): Tasted blind. Correctly identified as Chenin Blanc (Savennieres)
Nose shows some oak and yeasty notes, specifically a slight buttercream. Less acidity than expected, perhaps at its peak. Slightly viscous with lanolin, peach, and apple extending into the long finish (which was the best part for me). An awkward wine.
