February 1, 2020 - 88-90: well wasn't this wine a surprise. First night was kind of a typical New World Rhone blend, the mourvedre really standing out with a Steely backbone. On night 2 however, the wine opened up and went totally grapey on me. It was full flavored, velvetty, and had a long fruit-driven finish. Very good.

April 2, 2018 - Wow, this is pretty great. Really tasty, balanced, complex, and well made (hat tip, Neil Collins; I probably shouldn't be so surprised, as I love Tablas Creek wines). 1st of 4 so I don't know if this has evolved or what, but this bottle is in a great spot. Medium(+) ruby to garnet color. Fantastic nose that seems to bring something new with each whiff, including earthy funk, black and dark red fruits, black tea, orange peel, smoke, dry leaves, black pepper, a bit of floral, and serrano or jalapeƱo pepper. Medium body, medium(+) acid and finish, with flavors of dark red fruits, orange peel, and spice. Pair with lamb, duck, bbq, carnitas, and so on; definitely versatile. I will definitely keep an eye out for this in future vintages. Well done.

June 30, 2017 - Continues to impress. A well done wine with lots of berries, stone fruit, mild tannins. Enjoy it now.
