October 26, 2021 - Terroir Tuesday at TDS, A Reunion (Table Donkey & Stick, Logan Square, Chicago): Light Burgundy color and rim was watery, bottle had good ullage. The nose started off in beguiling fashion; first impression was "this smells like French onion soup." Not even kidding. Coffee, iron, blood, and a savory character of roasted onions and salt came through almost immediately. Medium acidity, palate lacked a bit of depth and fruit was mostly faded. Easily a decade over the hill but indeed still tasty today. (Cork had extensive streaks of dried black goop, possibly indicating this had dried out in less-than-ideal conditions sometime in the past.)
