January 28, 2024 - This is wide open now with some mature tones - love the acidity underlying

December 26, 2023 - Ruby colour and still youthful. Perfumed, red cherry, some earthy notes and a little wood smoke. The palate is sublime with intense red cherry and redcurrant fruit, liquorice and with the smoky, earthy notes. Complex and beguiling with an incredible elegant intensity and length. This has evolved since I lasted tasted

January 26, 2023 - A formidable CdB. One cork bottle and the rest all quite consistent. Dare to outshine the la tache tonight. An emblematic chambertin with some animal notes to add intrigue and a persistent finish. At peak and will hold for years yet

October 19, 2022 - Similar to last impression- an excellent pc but not quite what I would hope from a gc

December 26, 2021 - Ruby core and beginning to brick at the rim. Nose forest floor, red cherry and redcurrant and some mushroom too. The palate is earthy with spices and red fruit which is drying out a little. Needs drinking up now.

Burgundy-Report

(Faiveley Joseph Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze) Nightmare - bottle 1 - tainted as tainted can be, a big shame. Bottle 2 - medium-plus ruby red, still cherry at the rim. The nose starts in an almost syrah way, slowly unknitting to give a little woodspice then really dense black cherry that slowly becomes more red and shows a little coffee. There's still a little grain from the wood, but this is one full-on wine with incredible length - you really can taste it minutes later. The palate has fine tannins, good acidity and super-intense fruit, shaded towards black. This is a wine that's a big black shadow of its future self and despite commendable depth doesn't yet shout 'I'm a great wine', but wait another 10 years and things might be starting to get very interesting.
