September 6, 2017 - Tasted at winery, Assyrtiko does not need oak, wine was disjointed oak plus fruit, not my style, oak tasted out of place, will not drink again.

July 15, 2017 - Always sceptical of oak use especially when it comes to a grape as special as Assyrtiko. But here it works, as it adds an extra dimension, a depth and texture feel. The acidity of the grape holds the wine together of course and there is a good fruit presence and then the texture aided by the right amount of oak completes the wine and ads a light honey finish. Very good and solid 91

June 20, 2017 - This is almost great. Other vintages really hit that razor girl balance between the oak and the innate Assy vibe. This just came short. Lovely wine with acids and juice and mineral playing the melody with the mellow wood bringing the bass, but it didn't quite mess and the bass was a little too loud. Still, greatly enjoyable and delicious stuff.

May 1, 2017 - Wine tasting in Greece; 4/28/2017-5/6/2017 (Athens, Santorini and Porto Heli): Tasting visit to Estate Argyros. 100% Assyrtiko aged in French oak for 6 months. Aging capacity - 10-12 years. This wine is made is from the oldest vines on their property which are more than 300 years old. The barrel wines are interesting, but for me not as enjoyable as the stainless, the oak is too pronounced and seems to tame the best parts of the grapes character. However for those who prefer Oaked wines, you will probably enjoy this more than I did.
