March 1, 2024 - My first BV and wow! Volume is turned up to 11 here. Huge tobacco and cedar notes with incredible length and amplitude. The wine was completely open from the first moment and surprisingly did not evolve or fade at all over two hours. I think the wine is at Peak, but will stay here for quite some time.

February 24, 2024 - Broken cork. Deep violet colour. Powerful nose of tobacco, menthol, cypress. Alcohol was well intigrated. Absolutely delicious from the start. Didn’t evolve much. Just entering drinking window. Will continue to evolve and improve for a long time.

August 31, 2022 - Degustateurs with 1955 bookends. (Oceanique Restaurant Evanston IL): 2 hour decant. Had high hopes for this wine and it did not disappoint. Youthful Port like color and nose. On the palate this was silky smooth. Developed over time in the glass and just was terrific. Hold for 3-5 years and no end in sight. Buy and hold

August 6, 2022 - Deep crimson color. Cork broke in 2 but bottle pristine. Deep crimson red color, hints of light purple signalling how young this wine still is despite almost 14 years of age. On the nose very shy in the outset but opens up after an hour or more in the decanter to dark red fruits, candied cassis, sweet spice, hints of tobacco, and strawberries. Very unique and my first bottle of this iconic Douro king of reds so I couldn't quite place it. Dry entry on the palate, very youthful, exploding dark red and black fruits mid palate, solid tannins but velvety, complex structure but hardly any secondary notes, perfect balance and power, long drying and powerful spicy fruit finish. Very intriguing to my palate but certainly a heck or a wine. Almost perplexing like a young solid Rhône wine..

May 6, 2022 - Bought this at a wine shop in Regua on the Douro River. Very expensive! Gorgeous and Harmonious. Way too young -- we had the CF 1992 Reserva from Magnum last night, and it was more austere yet more developed. I would wait at least to 2032 before tasting this again. Wonderful experience.
