December 29, 2023 - This wine was in an interesting place. Initially this had some muddled red fruit and some cinnamon red hot and red licorice and sort of a strange herbaceous almost vegetal quality about it. It was my take that leaving this in the bottle to breathe a bit would have probably caused the above to blow off within an hour. However, the decision to decant this wine was made (not by me)... and ultimately I am not sure that this was the correct decision as I think decanting this wine shocked it and made it descend into a strange hole. Once it came back (an hour later), it was more of a red fruit rich wine...funeral flower, luden's red cough drop, red cherry cough syrup, combined with red licorice, tobacco leaf, a hint of red fig. Finished with a little bit of a medicinal character but it had quite a bit of structure still about it. But about an hour after this it became more like it was at the start so the decline was pretty rapid. I am actually pretty impressed with this wine. Definitely glad that I was able to be a part of it, as this wine is fairly geeky so when someone opens it up it is always a treat! I think it is definitely time to start drinking on these if you have multiple, although I would be interested to know if your decision to decant this wine made it go into a weird funky spot for a bit. I would say this wine would be best served if stood up for a solid 10 to 12 hours before popping the cork, and then popping the cork but leaving it to bottle decant for an hour before serving (and then slowly drinking it over the next couple of hours 🙃).

November 15, 2023 - Masterclass Nebbiolo med Alf Tumble (VinkÀllan, Göteborg): Dammigt & höstlöv
    Lite sötma i smaken

April 16, 2023 - An experience. Brick color through and through, hinting more toward a brownish brick color. Nose was exotic, palate was lean and acidic, the taste was dominated by sweet plum or raisin liquor but it was all very balanced with the acidity. It went terrific with food, but on its own the acidity was a bit overpowering the little fruit that remained. Not bad for 59 year old basic Barolo.

December 17, 2022 - Still drinkable but past prime.
Day2 - gained more weight. Some floral, balsamic, spices on nose. Palate is cherries, still has acid, tannins but fruit has faded quite a bit.

March 5, 2022 - A wonderful, old Barolo from a great vintage. Notes of blackberry, raspberry, caramel and earth notes. Layered, with a long finish. Best of the three bottles we have had.
