February 9, 2024 - Not much expected, because vintage 1984. Bottle had super filling level, was stored in a very good cellar. Very bright color, almost Pinot-like. It was elegant, still young with beautiful integrated and soft tannins. In the nose eucalyptus, mint, fruit and forest floor... Attention: This bottle was good, but most of what you can find from Lafite 1984 would have to be far above its peak.

November 20, 2022 - Color what you expect from a 40 year old wine
Nose shows some of the acidity on first taste
Decanted 3 hours ahead of slow roasted lamb dinner
Some acidity on first taste . minimal body and complexity . I blind tasted a chef and he thought it was a slightly over the hill and 3rd growth Bordeaux
Drink now and don’t expect to be excited

September 25, 2022 - This was really special to me. Opened as a blind/ringer by Cos65, and what a treat it was. There was modest bricking through the rim, largely transparent, but the wine was still quite fresh with stern tannins. We decanted it and it was still fairly coiled through the evening. Light in body (no one guessed Bordeaux) but fairly high toned. It wipes the floor with Haut Brion of the same vintage.

September 24, 2022 - Served blind and stumped us all. No one identified bdx. Nice smokey nose mixed with some fine herbaceous notes.. Palate was well judged but rather fading on the finish. Still has some notable fine tannins. Strong effort in a weak year.

November 6, 2016 - What to drink before we die... (Restaurant Prinzinger, Düsseldorf (Germany)): Wow - i never expected this from a 1984 vintage. Bottle must have been stored under perfect conditions. It's a firework in the mout with great fresh red berry flavours and soft tannins. Great overall structure.

December 1, 2015 - En sjarmerende Bordeaux!

August 31, 2015 - Wines of 1984 and some more: Excellent appearance and cork in perfect condition (recorked?). This was on a different level comparing it to other red '84 in this tasting. Silky light, self restraint of a proper old time claret, elegant. Develops a slightly meaty nose, also some mushrooms, dense. With more time comes bell pepper, ripe black choke-berries (aronia), sweet zephyr. It peaked quite fast, but nevertheless it was an outstanding wine even not taking into account the poor vintage.
