January 17, 2024 - Dark berry fruit with notes of coffee, vanilla, lavender and hints of forest floor on the finish. This is a full bodied rhone blend that gains weight in the glass and needs a hour decant to become fully expressive. Super long finish that accentuates the wine’s freshness.

January 2, 2024 - Decanted for 4 hours-paired with rib roast for New Year’s Eve dinner. Aromatic on nose. Dark fruits, some spice on palate. Lingers on mid palate and lasts forever. This was my first Broken Stones and I rate it higher than other Saxum I have had that I think suffer from too much heat. This is an elegant wine.

December 29, 2023 - A Wine Fueled Goodbye to 2023; 12/29/2023-12/31/2023 (College Station, TX): This was stellar as expected. Dark blue and black fruits, some savory aspects, a little
Meatiness—everything you could want from a central coast syrah. Big thanks to AgELVIS for opening over our dinner at the Brazilian steakhouse.
This one suffered more than the SQN from the poor glassware at dinner. I had a taste when we double decanted at home and the nose was quite intense, in the thicker glasses of the steakhouse I could not get anything. Meant to try again in day 2 but there were too many other amazing wines and I already exceeded my limits!!!!

December 29, 2023 - Splash double decant. Very very deep purplish magenta color. Blueberry, dark raspberry, brown sugar, anise, and subtle maple cured bacon. Very dry palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish.

Shared with Decanting Queen at a very fun dinner in my little Texas town. Hard to beat Saxum for American Rhône blends.

July 15, 2023 - The bottle had a lot of sediment—overall tasty, dark red fruit, plum.
