Community Tasting Notes 3

April 12, 2024 - This wine sums up why Burgundy is so special. Beautiful aromatics which are still youthful and very pretty. Raspberry, cherry on the palate. V good acidity. Good length. Has years to go, because for me this is still very youthful and opened up more on the palate after a decant. Day 2: a bit more relaxed on the palate, but pretty much unchanged from Day 1.

October 18, 2023 - I really enjoyed this; popped and poured directly from the cellar so was a bit cool initially; red fruits, mineral notes, floral, and just a hint of spiced tea; the nose opened with air and warming to show more red and black berry fruit (mostly red), floral notes, and crushed rock became more prominent. The palate was very nice with good intensity and depth for the level and really lovely balance. The finish was red fruit and stone and lingered for a good 30 seconds. Drinking well now, but definitely has plenty of punch for further aging.

November 16, 2017 - Annual Roi Chambertin tasting: 2016 Gevreys from village to grand cru (Espace Chambertin, Bourgogne): Like some other wines at this mammoth tasting, I got a bit of excessive oak derived notes on the nose. The palate is not as nuanced as the Rene Bouvier Racines du Temps, tasted just before, and seems just a bit monotone by comparison. There is juice however and ripeness. So it should be fine, with time the oak should integrate, but not as interesting or fresh.
