December 30, 2023 - The star of the evening, the bottle that was meant to captivate the palate and olfactory senses of all the diners. Although it succeeded in doing so, the manic attention, high anticipation, and obsessive search had perhaps elevated the expectations a bit too much. As if we were vinous priests of the temple of Bacchus (or more specifically, it might be more appropriate to say Cistercian monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux), we approach the wine with reverential trepidation. Upon opening, it draws attention with its exceptionally long, high-quality cork. Once the glasses are raised, we plunge our noses in like truffle dogs, and the wine, in its aloof posture, immediately lets us know that we will need to wait before its monastic seclusion transforms into a carnival of flavors and aromas, a "Mardi Gras" of fruit and flowers surrounded by precious oriental spices. After the reserved start, we begin to peel away the various still leathery layers of this wine. Important animal notes emerge, along with noble wood, blood orange, currant, and pomegranate, emphasizing the great freshness and purity of a shining red fruit. Then, it ventures into more "blue" balsamic notes, with violet and rose. In the mouth, the tannin is composed, and like a theatrical curtain, it immediately gives way to a duet of freshness and salinity that dance between the tongue and palate, prolonging the fruity sensations and projecting them into the retro-nasal space for many seconds. In conclusion, it is certainly a great wine, but perhaps due to its still young age, we were unable to glimpse the depth and concentration we expected. At this stage, it is marked by a shoulder of salinity and freshness, making it structured but vertical and possibly not capable of engaging all taste buds. No rush to open and drink it in this phase.

Fairly aromatic nose, some whole clusters, slight touch of rose, some red fruit, palate is intense, medium length. Very good.

December 10, 2022 - One of the best bottles of wine I’ve ever had. As someone new to the burgundy world, experiencing a higher end bottle is eye opening to me. Hints of black cherry, smooth as velvet, and complex. Earthier flavors without a mineraly taste. Fruity without being sweet.

December 25, 2021 - Very light, thin and softer than had expected from grand cru, prefer more fruit forward
Was not sure if more time would enhance

94+ pts
