September 25, 2020 - WIMPs is Back, (La Trompette, Chiswick): Deep garnet core, minimal rim. Sour red fruit, spice, leather, touch of soy. Full bodied, quite rich and round on the palate with leathery fruit, fresh acidity, decent length finish.

September 25, 2020 - 41st Birthday Wimps - Finally Friday table (La Trompette): Quite mature, gamey and open. Lovely nose but lean on the palate: spicy and rather dark, with coffee and black fruit crumble.

May 14, 2018 - Dark crimson, no browning. Nose of tobacco, cedar, mushrooms, dark fruit. Clean on the palate. Nice long finish. Breasts the tape as a well aged Brunello; why do I not love it more?

September 11, 2017 - An absolute perfect floral aroma immediately upon opening! Frankly quite delightful and what I had hoped the a 1997 vintage Brunello would produce. Robust, rich, dark ruby, no signs of oxidation with a perfect cork. It makes me realize that 20-year aged Sangiovese from a great vintage can be a consistent WINNER even from a low cost producer (this bottle had a less than 12 euro price tag still on it)!

March 4, 2017 - Perhaps slightly past prime. Nice nose. Tannins fully resolved with plenty of sweet fruit left. Well balanced wine marred slightly by some musty notes on the palate. Perhaps a little TCA,(the table was divided on this) but still very drinkable. If not, the juice must have evaporated. Good long finish. Drink up!
