August 27, 2019 - Matrot's 2016 Bourgogne Blanc was fermented in oak barrels (approximately 20% new) and aged for approximately 11 months on its lees. Now light-to-medium golden in color, it delivers a core of orange zest, melon, lemon verbena, honey and wet stones, accented with a dollop of oak-infused vanilla. Light-to-medium-bodied, fresh and with seamless alcohol (listed as 12.5%), it stays solid on the mid-palate and closes with a saline-laden finish that is medium in length. This has picked up weight and complexity during the past year, and is very impressive for a basic white Bourgogne. Drink now-2022.
