June 12, 2021 - Beautiful bottle in outstanding condition from the Benjamin Ichinose cellar. Very much alive. Smoke, gravel and light cedar. Fully resolved, seamless and easy to drink. Very cool to experience.

January 20, 2021 - First of three bottles.
    Auction purchase, history unknown.
Very pale hue, decanted just prior to serving.
Mid-shoulder fill.Unbranded cork, fairly short. Authentic?
Very much an aged character, soy, spices, sherry type aromas, earthy character. The texture is remarkable: smooth, seamless, good depth.
This is clearly the strong part of the wine
I suspect that a better kept bottle would show even better.
    Very long finish.

May 22, 2018 - As I do not review wines at tastings, this is the second exception since it was a fair pour and so rare. Like the 1945 Margaux last year (5/28/17) at this charity event chaired annually by James Finkel, the Latour just jumped out of the glass as if a young wine. Full of regal stature, purple/dark red color, and an out of this world nose of mature dark cherry, horse scents, old wood, moist sous bois and a rich almost sweet sense of purpose. The palate was perfect, just like the Marguax last year . It coated the tongue without being unctuous or excessively fruit dirven like so many younger Bordeaux. It merged perfectly the old oak, ripe cherries, tiny hint of cassis, and grand cru depth of soil that have defined great Latours forever. Not as monolithic an the 1961 once was but this wine had everything.

May 21, 2016 - Richter Raritäten Degustation Volume IV - Magnum Edition (all wine out of Magnum): Leather, black berries, nose and palate do not speak the same language but it still somehow seems to work. Great wine, but not among the greatest 1929s

March 4, 2016 - Just a beautiful old Latour. Silky and fresh and fully resolved but still plenty of black fruits along with hints of walnuts and dark spice. Finishes soft and not terribly complex but there are lovely notes of Latour dirt along with cigar leaf and charcoal minerals. Just a yummy drink.

(Château Latour Grand Vin) Bricking, cloudy, medium red violet color with pale meniscus; mushroom, truffle, tobacco nose; tasty, deep, tobacco, mushroom, plum, raspberry palate with depth and persistence; long finish (from a bottle missing a label, but reconditioned by the Chateau, with a fill to just above the bottom of the neck)
