Community Tasting Notes 7

February 22, 2023 - Consistently great, probably my favorite Syrah. Three hour decant and outstanding silky structure of dark chocolate-raspberry. The differentiating factor is the smooth long finish.

November 5, 2022 - Identical note as 20 months ago. Long decant helps, but just a touch strong on finish for otherwise exceptional wine Powerful, very rich, dark fruit.

February 8, 2022 - Decanted for 4 hours prior to tasting and it required another hour to resolve the alcohol. Almost port-like in its thickness and density, this bottle oozed across the palate. What it lacks in nimbleness is offset by smooth texture and an acidic backbone which enlivens the experience.

January 21, 2022 - Pure, refined power of raspberry preserves, cherry pie, and chocolate, with warm earthy accents and a silky but firm structure. A superb wine with weight and depth, at the beginning of an auspicious drinking window. Among the best Syrahs I’ve tasted from Paso Robles, and it hid its toasty 15.6% ABV admirably. 95% Syrah 3% Rousanne 2% Clairette Blanche. 100% estate.

March 19, 2021 - Admittedly, I am partial to a good Syrah, but this not only had the richness expected with the near black cork, but there was an elegance of raspberry and dark chocolate. The nose stands out like a god Pinot and the finish was long and excellent, except for a touch more heat than ideal. This is my favorite Syrah and will get better with a little more time. The two hour decant was necessary.
