January 8, 2022 - Searched for a bottle in my cellar, this one caught my intention,
have not tried a white GC Bourgogne very often before,
so this bottle triggered me immediately, caramel, quince, apricot, chalk,
the palate very creamy and rich right from the start, full bodied flow over the midpalate, apricot again, apples, citrus zest, but most impressive for me is the all over creamy rich limy appearance, at the moment more a fist in thick gloves, deep, very addicting and convincing finish, great white Bourgogne,
not sure how this one will mature, but so delicious right now!
    ***(*-*****), around 94-96+

Needs some air to reveal its inner power.

Ripe citrus and orchard fruits, mineral core. Waves of flavours melting out from the mid palate, toast, honeyed grilles nuts, gun flint smoke and buttery.
Everythig well in place and all supported by the nervy acidic backbone. Great power and structure with a long weightless finish! Hard not to love. Even better than the fantastic 2017 Bonneau du Martary Corton Charlemagne I recently tasted.

August 21, 2021 - Dinner at Dear Margaret (Chicago, IL): No. 410. I'll always have fond memories of this wine as I tasted it with Philippe Brun right at the end of the Before Times. This started out less expressive than the Croix alongside, but then picked up steam with more and more air. Whereas the Croix was arguably more shapely and sculpted, the Clair makes up for it in sheer size and magnitude. But it works. For me, this wine does exemplify the expected breadth and power of Corton-Charlemagne with a fruit profile that leans more towards ripe yellow things. It's drinking so well now it almost seems pointless to age this.

February 13, 2020 - Barrel Tasting at Bruno Clair (Marsannay): Wow, crazy aromatic with citrus and ripe orchard fruit with some smoke. The palate is densely concentrated with great power and energy. Chiseled and delineated across the palate. Long++ finish. Excellent. 93-95+

February 13, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 3 (Beaune, France): There is something a little disconcerting about Philippe suggesting that this has a shelf life of 10 years, but I only have what I'm tasting today to evaluate this wine, and what a wine it is. In some ways, this doesn't have the oily, rich breadth that some other Corton-Charlemagnes have, but at the same time it certainly has the right amount of depth and concentration. A very powerful and expressive wine with a seriously intense cut of acidity. Fantastic now, and within the next 10 years?
