May 11, 2023 - Decanted for about an hour. Ideally would have double decanted a couple of hours earlier, but didn't have time. It was still tight, but after another hour in the glass, it opened up to reveal such a lovely fruit profile framed with smooth tannins and bright acid. This is drinking beautifully right now and has tons of upside. Preferred the M-G, but was pleased this bottle held its own in the company.
May 14, 2021 - Nose is obnoxiously flamboyant and leaps from the glass. Beautiful bright red cherry and green floral stems. Hard not to like this right from the get go. Great spice as well. Already seems to have a lot of character beyond just that red burgundy primary baby fat sort of stage. More Dujac than Echezeaux. Palate is a little darker with a black fruit core at the moment. Straightforwardly delicious. 93+
February 13, 2020 - Tasting at Domaine Dujac (Morey St. Denis): Wow, a gorgeous stemmy red cherry nose with spice and earth layering. So round and plush on the palate with a bright, mineral freshness. Intense spice and stem throughout. Complete and delicious. 95+
February 13, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 3 (Beaune, France): A bit of a step up from the Beaux Monts; this has a little less of the lean minerality and more of a fullness on the palate. More dense and concentrated, with a nice balance of red and black fruit here. The spiciness is also scaled up, and the Vosne spice is more open and apparent. This is, in some way, kind of a deliciously early-drinking grand cru, though it is a shame to kill this off so young.
July 2, 2019 - Domaine Visit & Tasting at Dujac (Morey St. Denis): Full and intense nose with distinctly red fruit and nice stem/spice. A step up in richness and concentration from the Vosne 1er wines. Nice richness and density to the plush fruit. Should age and gain depth/nuance over the medium term. 93+
July 2, 2019 - Domaine Dujac Cellar Visit and Tasting (Morey-St.-Denis): Tasting at the domaine. Here we return to classci Vosne style of bright red fruit and a charming combination of Asian five spice and baking spice. Forward and fairly accessible for Grand Cru, while also not quite showing Grand Cru density. 90-91+ point potential, depending on whether it picks uo density.
April 17, 2019 - Aromas of Sandalwood, Chinese 5 spice powder and ripe cherry. It has good depth in the mouth, building through the palate and really fanning out on the finish. Lovely wine.
