May 28, 2023 - Fregrant, aromatic wine with berries and then developed into mixed of rose and mixed of different flowers. Powerful terrior with dark chocolate and hard tannin. wine with a lot of potential with long finishing. Will be come much better in a few years.

February 22, 2022 - 2017 Joseph Faiveley Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Beaux Bruns was perfumed, evolving and detailed. The developing Burgundy Pinot Noir was clear and medium ruby in colour with traces of fine suspensions. Freshly uncorked, there were reticent aromas of forest berries and sour cherry. With an hour of in-bottle aeration, seductive aromatics of rose petals, game, smoke, menthol and earth emerged.

On the palate, it was dry and medium-bodied, complemented with a medium level of grainy tannin and a rather high level of fresh acidity. Flavours of cranberry, dark cherry and crushed violet transitioned to milk chocolate, discreet spices and an expansive core of salinity in a long, savoury finish. Overall, it felt more structured and gamey than what I would expect from a typical Chambolle. The alcohol level was at 13%. The empty bottle weighed 587 grams.

From the information on WineSearcher, Aux Beaux Bruns is located at the centre of the commune, and spans 2.5 hectares. Interestingly, only 1.5 hectares on the northwestern part are classified as Premier Cru, while the southeastern half only qualifies for the village appellation. The soil is composed of chalky marl and limestone, with a slightly higher proportion of clay compared to neighbouring Chambolle vineyards. The clay-rich soil is thought to yield slightly denser and more powerful Pinot Noir. Not much winemaking information could be found on Faiveley winery website, as it is not their domaine bottling.
